Care they deserve

"Shall we go for some text related to images in the gallery entitled 'Rare animals and creatures'?" - Sanskriti, my grand daughter, asked a moment ago.

"I thought about it." - My reply, while I kept observing the content bearing link https://theworldofcolours.com/sanskriti

"Then?" - Sanskriti again.

"Rarity of all those animals and creatures are accessible through search engines." - I followed up.

"What should we plan then?" - Sanskriti came back with a quick question again.

"Can you select an instance, based on which a fiction could be compiled?" - I asked.

"Cruelty against animals." - Sanskriti.

The child appeared to be fresh from our recent stay in Jungle Lodges Resort, Halagur.

I quickly came to a conclusion that there is scope to compile a fiction entitled 'Care they deserve'.

Confrontation

'A sanctuary cannot wear the fancy dress.' - Rajaram, a back bencher new recruit forest guard, was blunt in his expression.

'I asked only to stand up and raise your hand if you've anything to say.' - Suryaprakash, forest range officer, in a raised voice, burning inside and telling himself that he'd teach Rajaram a lesson.

Watching anger in the team leader's reaction, everyone in the gathering wore a total silence. They were assembled to take note of the important instructions received from Ministry of Forest and Environment.

White Hill Sanctuary in Karnataka - India was gearing up to receive new  guests - a pair of tigers from Sri Sailam (Andhra Pradesh - India), a pair of leopards from Pali (Rajasthan - India), and a pair of bears from Damua (Madhya Pradesh  - India). Relevantly, the staff members of the sanctuary were receiving  instructions on how to provide extreme care to those guests and support effort of the department, to increase the wild life population.

Suryaprakash delivered the instructions received from higher-ups in a manner befitting his lucrative post. Concluding his speech, he expected everyone in the gathering to understand the concept properly. That's why he asked them raise their hands, if they had any confusion. His intention was to have the confused individual by his side on the stage. Standing on the stage, the person was supposed address his thoughts to the entire gathering.

The speech was marvelous to hear. Everyone in the gathering, except Rajaram, began to imagine how beautifully he'd handle his assigned responsibility towards the new guests. The imagination could be compared to a child in a dream, feeling it as so nice to ride a bicycle with the ease of turning and twisting amidst hillocks and valleys. We realise pains of performance only when we practically drift in to the routine which is entrusted to us.

Rajaram was known for being kind towards animals, and had just the skill of taming wild lives which was bestowed to him from his ancestors. Academically his only qualification was to sign the attendance register, which he learnt with a great difficulty. From that low, by reacting in his natural way to the speech of his highly qualified team leader, has he invited trouble for himself?
